I'm seriously thinking of pulling back on journal entries to this blog, perhaps to the point of stopping completely. This in response to my making progress toward a musical/personal growth goal, which leads me to ask myself "now what?". For context, reference this post from a couple of years ago.
As I succeed (at times) in playing fewer notes and speaking fewer words, I'm realizing that I need to, and perhaps dramatically, lower my expectations for the length of these blog entries. And by length I may mean reach, or scope, or the desire to say something profound. Or just the desire to avoid shorter entries, as my Facebook posts already are that. But (as I always hope happens when I start a new entry), I think I just veered into the larger point (in a "leap, and a net will appear" sort of way). In the early years of this blog (beginning in 2005), these entries were more frequent, and more of a true diary of the day. Then Facebook came along, becoming the repository for that. So I tried to transition this blog to more of a thoughtful exploration place, and less a place of documentation. Especially in recent years, this has become increasingly difficult, as I settle deeper into the space of fewer notes and words. So maybe I won't stop posting here, nor pull back. Maybe I'll go the other way: shorter posts more often. I can see the potential benefit in that. Let's see what happens. :)
